My record collection, like most, stemmed from that of my parents; their old soul and jazz LPs laying the foundation for a mass of music ranging from hip hop, funk and reggae, to dancehall, pop, rock and blues.

As a kid, I played classical and jazz piano and later, lured by their comparative sense of cool, moved onto bass and drums.

Eventually, I discovered the turntables, and in between beat-mixing, scratching and blending tracks, I became hooked.

After countless hours of bedroom practice, I felt comfortable playing parties in Sydney.

Though never really moving into the local club scene, upon migrating to London I started working house parties and soon became a resident DJ and co-promoter at Basic (Asylum Bar) which evolved into The Rub (T-Bar) with my UK partner-in-crime, DJ That Guy Khy.

From there, I played some of the most prestigious bars, clubs and events around London and Europe before returning to Sydney in December, 2005.

Specialising in what I like to call 'party music with a twist,' I am known for being the go-to guy to get any venue rocking.

My belief is, as a DJ, you need to love music first and foremost, but must also give people something unexpected - keeping them on their toes with ever-fresh sounds.

Since relocating to Sydney, I have founded Dynamite, a night I co-promote with DJ Count Doyle.

We have been fortunate enough to join forces with Soul Jazz Records to present a night based around spinning the cream of reggae, ska, dancehall, roots, funk, rocksteady and dub from the Soul Jazz catalogue and beyond.

Every month, we launch a new Soul Jazz release with giveaways from the label.

With our 'all killer, no filler' policy, every instalment of the night has been a huge success, with wall-to-wall people dancing into the early morn.

Having worked for Music Concrete (formerly Sound Architecture) in London, I learned the importance of providing new music solutions to boutique hotels, bars and fashion stores.

Building on this, I recently formulated an in-house music policy for Sydney's newest hotspot, Crystal Bar.
